Fall in love with climbing
& find your people
Excited to climb but nervous that you…
Aren’t strong enough?
Trust me, you don’t need impressive upper body strength to climb. Pull ups are not required!
Don’t have climbing buddies?
They’re out there and probably trying to find you, too! Climbing is all about community, and you will find yours.
Are intimidated by the jargon?
Don’t know the difference between a .5 and 5.10? Can’t tell a cam from a carabiner? You can learn!
Are afraid to take up space?
Feel like you don’t belong on the wall because you don’t climb hard or look a certain way? You belong.
If you want to start climbing or feel more confident and comfortable in the gym and at the crag, Head Over Heel Hooks can help.
It’s not about technical and safety skills – there are lots of awesome resources for that.
It’s not about climbing stronger - there are plenty of places to learn technique and how to train.
This is rock climbing for beginners who want to find their place in the climbing world and take the next steps on their climbing journey.
This is the place for you.
“I had the pleasure of climbing with Kate in Joshua Tree; it was amazing! She’s professional while making it feel like you’re climbing with a friend. I was new to outdoor climbing and she made sure I was safe and provided encouragement when I froze or felt the fear. I’d happily climb with her again.”
Meet Your Climbing Fairy Godmother
Hi, I’m Kate! I’m no Alex Honnold, and that’s the point.
I get scared…a lot. But I still have fun and climb a ton.
I’ve bouldered in epic places like Yosemite and Patagonia, summited Devils Tower, climbed high in Zion, spent quality time in Joshua Tree, and explored so many more crags across the country and at home in Colorado.
But I didn’t grow up in the mountains. I grew up in the flat Midwestern landscape of Michigan. And I didn’t start climbing when I was just a kid, or even as a twenty-something. I started climbing when I was 35.
Now I’m an American Mountain Guides Association Single Pitch Instructor.
While I can’t wave a magic wand and make you climb harder, I can bring sparkle and support to your climbing journey.
